Ellesley Motorsport head to Holland
Ellesley Motorsport, with lead driver David Ellesley, are set to make the journey to the fabulous Zandvoort facility in Holland next month. In a twist to the teams original plans they will be there supporting David who is now driving the works Juno UK car and not the Spirit as in the season opener after the Spirit car was no longer available to race.
After a test with Juno last week a deal was struck to contest the 7th and 8th rounds of the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain for the team. Regular driver Jake Green has been forced to miss the event after injuring his hand during a crash as Knockhill some weeks earlier, which is how the seat for David came about.
Everyone at EM is looking forward to the event which is being run with the F3 Masters.
Ellesley Motorsport Skip Knockhill Rounds to Focus on Zandvoort Races
Financial constraints stopped the team from entering into the 2nd meeting of the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain, as a consequence lead driver David Ellesley has slipped down to third in the Scholarship Class Points table.
The team made a late decision to forgo the event in Scotland and instead concentrate their efforts on the next meeting being held at the wonderful Zandvoort facility over in Holland.
Understandably both the team and David are disappointed to have missed the event, especially considering that they held a 10point lead in the Scholarship title battle, however everyone is thoroughly looking forward to Zandvoort and the championships only International round this year.
Ellesley Motorsport take Scholarship class Honours in Season Opener
Easter weekend saw the opening three races of the 2010 Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain kick off at the Motorsport Vision run Oulton Park Circuit located in leafy Cheshire.
Despite a very limited amount of testing prior to the opening round, lead driver David Ellesley was able to secure 4th spot in class for all three races. Despite a spin in races 1 and 2 David was still able to make it to the finish line in 3rd and 2nd places respectively.
Race three saw David again make and excellent start and propelled him into the class lead battle with then leader Luke Williams, however as lap 3 came about Luke crashed out and David was able to go on and secure his first victory of the year and also his first in a single seat racing car.
With three podium finishes for the weekend David now leads the Scholarship class by 10 points from his nearest rival.
All of the team were very pleased with the weekends work especially considering the lack of testing that had been undertaken.

Room for Improvement in Season Opener
The first official test day of the 2010 British Formula Ford Season got under way last Wednesday, 10th March, at a sunny but cold Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire.
The Ellesley Motorsport and Spirit Engineering run Formula Ford car performed faultlessly throughout the day, although the overall lap times place lead driver David Ellesley well down the order in 17th position.
However this was only his first outing in the car in dry weather so a big improvement can be expected come the first round in April.
The team was pleased with the data it acquired from the test day, although there was only very limited running after an accident on the M6 motorway cost them time in session 1 after the car arrived late and a spin in session 3 saw David only complete 7 laps. Thankfully there was no damaged to either driver or car, just some cleaning of the under tray to do!
Qualifying and race one is on Easter Saturday while races 2 and 3 will be held on Monday.
We hope to see you there.

Ellesley On Fine Form in First Formula Ford Test
David Ellesley’s first outing in this years Formula Ford Car was highly successful
and productive, despite only limited running time due to horrid weather conditions at Snetterton. The 2007 spec Spirit chassis performed faultlessly throughout the day to record wet times close to those of the championships previous front runners.
Both Ellesley Motorsport and Spirit Engineering boss Steve Wills were there to ensure that the day ran smoothly and any issues could be countered, thankfully there were none.
The 2007 spec chassis is set to receive some development parts for its next
outing at Oulton Park on March 10th to accommodate the new tyre supplier of
the championship, Dunlop, which has introduced new Radial Tyres.
David reflects on the day:
‘Today was big day for me, although I had to wait a while to get the car out on track because of the weather, I really felt that I made the most of the time we had and came up with some good ideas for improvements in both my driving
style and the car.
I must admit it would have been much nicer in those conditions to have a roof over my head and some windscreen wipers, but it was a great experience and should set me in good form for any wet or intermediate conditions.’
